Jeff was born in Derby, Kansas, and graduated from Derby High School in 1986. He started roofing as a summer job when he was 15 years old. After high school, he joined the United States Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. He was an air-traffic controller on a guided-missile destroyer. After the Navy, he returned to the Wichita area and started his roofing business.
